Our Community Partners
Junk removal is not only about what leaves your home. It is also about where those items end up. Midwest Removal works with two Omaha area nonprofits so that furniture and household goods still in good condition go on to help a neighbor instead of taking up space in a landfill.

Omaha Furniture Bank
The Furniture ProjectThe Furniture Project began in 2013, when Omaha firefighter Drew Gerken and several colleagues from the Omaha Fire Department answered a call at a home with no furniture in it. When they asked the children where they slept, the kids showed them their suitcases and explained that they laid some clothes on the floor and covered up with the rest. The crew went back to the station, put out a call for help, and had the apartment furnished within a day. Today the organization runs an 18,000 square foot warehouse at 10808 J Street and provides furniture and housewares at no cost to families referred by a network of local social service agencies. Their mission is to deliver furniture, housewares and hope into the homes of neighbors during a hard stretch. |
Bedroom Makeovers For Kids With Cancer
Special Spaces NebraskaSpecial Spaces is a national 501(c)(3) that builds dream bedroom makeovers for children going through cancer treatment. The Nebraska chapter is based right here in Elkhorn and serves dependent children ages 2 to 19 who are within one year of treatment. The idea is simple and it sticks with you: give a kid one room that is entirely theirs. A safe place to recover, heal, sleep and play, designed around whatever that child loves. The chapter serves Douglas, Sarpy, Lancaster, Cass, Dodge, Otoe, Washington and Saunders counties in Nebraska, plus Pottawattamie County in Iowa. |
Have something you want donated?
Tell your crew lead on the day of service. We will look the items over and route anything that qualifies to the right partner. Acceptance is always up to the nonprofit and depends on condition and what they need at the time, so we cannot promise a specific item will be placed. What we can promise is that we look first, every job. You can also read more about our furniture removal and property cleanout services, or see what lands on our things we do not pick up list.
